Good Eye

My dad made up a new game with the tennis ball where he would throw it onto the roof. At first, I would watch it bounce off and run to catch it. Eventually I learned to listen closely for where I thought it would be when it rolled down and catch it in my mouth. I was pretty good at predicting the landing.
Barclay on the other hand wasn't as good at this new game. Maybe because he's still a youngster. He could never track where the ball was going. In fact, when my dad threw the ball on the roof, Barclay noticed the direction it was going and ran inside the house. He didn't realize it went upwards. Silly dog... So much to learn. Good thing Sawyer is here to teach you Uncle Barclay!

Barclay and Grandpa Don

While Grandma Diana and my mom planted flowers, my dad and Grandpa Don had to entertain me and my Uncle Barclay. They knew that we wanted to be outside with the ladies so they decide to make a game with the tennis ball. Since I don't like to chase after tennis balls (only sticks), my dad got really creative. Tune in tomorrow to find out what game he invented.

Now that was fun

Barclay thought it was a blast to play ruff and tumble. However, he eventually wore down as did I. He went to tell his dad (my Grandpa Don) about all the fun he had. Then he plopped on a comfy below to rest. What a smart uncle I have!

Will Sit for Treats

Did you know that you can get doggie treats that look just like cookies, gingerbread, pretzels and a whole lot of other tastey people food? Grandma Diana found all these treats at PetCo and brought them to OKC for Barclay to share with me. I think I need a sign that says " Will Sit for Treats." In fact, it could say that I will perform for treats. Afterall, I can sit, shake, use my other hand to shake, lay down, get up, turn around, and submit with a bow. All you have to do is ask. Just like on the Jerry McQuire movie where Cuba Goodin Jr says "Show me the money." Instead I would say "Show me the treat!!!" Now, you're speaking my language!!!

Barclay

Here's the next verse of the song (hint: if you don't know the song, you have to listen to it to understand it better).

" Barclay's white fur and green hidden collar, Grandma with new toys that will make me holler, Grandpa has treats of all different flavors, These are a few of my favorite things"

{Original Lyrics: "Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes Silver white winters that melt into springs These are a few of my favorite things"}

To end the list of my a few of my favorite things, I just had to add these photos. Grandma Diana, Grandpa Don, and Barclay came to visit me over Martin Luther King Holiday. They brought with them many things for me to enjoy like 2 huge new toys and tons of tasty treats. There are so many fun photos that it will take more than one day to share with you. So get ready for more photos of My Buddy Barclay and Me.

You Don't Scare Me

After sitting halfway on the chair and halfway off, I decided I would be more comfortable on the floor. Barclay, on the other hand, thought he had won. He thought that his huge grawl got me off of "HIS" chair. Is he kidding me? I am the powerful one. I just like to let him think that he can control me. You know, I think Barclay and I like hanging out, but as we get tired we get a little more cranky and possessive. Doesn't he know that I'm always right. After all, I'm Sawyer the Dog and I have my own blog! Enough said!
P.S. A Birthday Shoutout goes to my Aunt Shannon today. I love you!

That's my chair

While I was sitting in my favorite chair, Barclay thought he would hop up and sit next to me. What he doesn't realize is that I'm a big dog and there's not enough room for us both. As you can tell from the photo, I kept my back legs on the chair, but had to move my front legs to give him some space. It wasn't very comfortable for me, but he seemed pretty happy. I guess you have to be considerate of friends and family, even when you don't want to. I have to say that it's fun playing with Barclay for a while, but I'm glad to have my own home all to myself. I sure hope my parents aren't thinking about having a baby anytime soon or adopting another puppy. (Mom says maybe in 2011 so I've got plenty of time to change her mind and make her delay a bit longer.) I think I'm better off as a only child! Don't you think? Reply with your thoughts and comments!!!

Barclay's First Christmas

Since it was Barclay's first Christmas ever, his parents thought they would make it special by getting him something to remember it by. He got a soft and cozy bear that said "My First Bear!" I tried to convince him it was the perfect toy to shred apart, but I think he was a little intimidated since the bear is bigger than him. I tried to show him, but my parents said I had to leave it alone since it wasn't mine. I guess not everyone like to destroy their toys like I do. Some savor and enjoy them! I guess it would make them last longer, but to me it's not as fun! To each their own!

You're getting the hang of it!

Back to Christmas with the Burks....

My Uncle Barclay is very smart and a quick learner! After a brief tutoral of how to shred Christmas wrapping paper, he caught on. Here he is on the couch with my dad and Grandma Diana. Though he's really good at this new skill, he's got a ways to go to be as good as me. It does take size and practice to perfect this rare art, but Barclay is on his way!

Wrapping Paper Footballs

I loved all the treats and toys that I got for Christmas. But the best part about opening Christmas presents is the wrapping paper. My dad and I love football so he would take the wrapping paper and crumble it up like a football. Then he would throw it to me to catch. After that, I made sure to tear it into as many shreds as possible. It was a blast!

Barclay had never opened Christmas presents so I had to mentor him on the art of shredding paper. One of the hardest things to do it to make sure that every piece of paper is stepped on or pulled. He watched closely as his Nephew and Mentor Sawyer showed him exactly what to do.

Barclay thought it looked like a lot of work, but I assured him that it was more like a game. There is a lot of talk about "Cat like reflexes." Therefore we as dogs can not sit back if we want to be superior. We have to train so that when a cat approaches, we are ready at any moment to show them what skills we've got. This is the perfect way to train and have fun at the same time! I can't wait until next Christmas when we can do it all again.

Presents

Wake up everyone, Santa has come! It's time for presents under the tree. Barclay and I were very excited that morning had come and we could open presents. I spent a lot of time explaining to him the night before why presents are so exciting. He couldn't wait to jump right on in and open em all. So we hopped next to the tree and made sure everyone was ready. Grandma Diana showed us all the special stockings she made for us, D-O-G, Alpine, Charlette and Oscar. The stockings were all hung with care on the mantle and Santa Claus has dropped off goodies for each of us. Since we were ready and posed by the tree, Grandma Diana took the stockings for Barclay and I and hung them on the tree for a perfect Christmas morning photo. The red one was mine and I could barely wait to open it up. Since we were sitting so well, we got a treat from our stocking right away. It was delicious. I told Barclay that sitting and looking cute usually gets you a treat. You just have to know how to work the system. And I am a great teacher of how to do that (thus the wink to the left). Christmas treats are awesome!

A Bed Fit for Prince

Since I sleep with parents at night (which was my dad's idea to get me to stop crying in my crate when I was a baby), my Grandma Diana didn't think it was right for the three of us to sleep in the Guest Bed since it's a Queen Size Bed. She and my Grandpa Don knew it was very important for us to get good sleep since Santa would be coming. Therefore, we needed lots of space so they insisted that we sleep in their King Size Bed...I like to call it a Prince Size Bed since it was decorated special just for me. Grandma even prepared it extra special by decorating a white Christmas tree next to it. Isn't it beautiful?!? I don't think Barclay originally got the idea that we were sleeping in HIS bed, so he joined my mom and I. I let him stay for a while, but then reminded him that we are a family of three. We don't have room for anyone else if our family....did you get that mom and dad? I am an only child and I like it that way. Don't surprise me someday with a sibling....dog or human. I like it just the way we are!!! All the attention goes to me, me, me.

Hi Ho Hi Ho....

It's off the Burk's we go! After a great time with the Duit side of our family, my parents and I thought we'd continue the Christmas celebration by going to the Burk side. The three of us hoped in the car and headed from Altus to Dallas! To start off the holiday fun, we had dinner with my Grandma Diana, Grandpa Don Granddad, Mimi and Uncle Barclay (the Maltese)! I thought today would be a great day to start the photos of our time there as it's my Mimi's Birthday! Hope you have a Wonderful Birthday Mimi! I love you!

He's so little!

Even though Barclay is my uncle, he is still a baby dog. He's so little that he can sit on the counter to eat his dinner. For some reason everyone thought I might eat his food so they put it up high. Barclay didn't mind. Of course, he became really tired after playing with me for a while and then eating a large meal that he had to take a nap. He's still a youngin'! My grandparents said I was I good dog because I was very careful with him. He could jump and bite my ears and I wouldn't even budge. I even watched my steps so that I didn't harm my little uncle when he ran around in circles.

Barclay

My parents and I had two weekends celebrating Thanksgiving on the road. Here we are at my Grandma Diana's and Grandpa Don's house. While we were there, I got to hang out with Sir Barclay Winston Churchill III. I guess he's my uncle like Toby was (my grandparents dog who has since passed away due to old age...he was 14 years old in people years...he is really missed by everyone). Here is Barclay and I with my dad hanging out. Maybe someday he'll grow to be as big as me, but my parents told me not to hold my breath.
P.S. I'm so cute in this photo you may have to double click to make it bigger to see my smile!
