Thailand

As many of you know, my Grandma Beef Jerky is from in Thailand. So you can imagine my mom's excitement when she saw ancient items from her homeland. The pots you see are luxury items found from an excavation in the 15th century. Did you know that up until 1939 Thailand was known as Siam??? Many of you may know the stories of The King of Thailand (AKA Anna & the King).

The money represented came from the Thai kingdom of Ayutthaya from the 17th-18th Century. The Thais previously used coinage from the Mon people, but decided to use silver bars instead. Here is a photo of 1 bat, which is the currency in Thailand. (left). The round coins were used in Northern Thailand like Chiang Mai. Represented is 4 bats (right).
