I'm a Dog, I'm 40 --- And I'm back!

There is no denying that I am the King of the Creek. When the ducks see me coming, they run straight into the water. It's such a nice greeting with all the splashing and waves. They are so sweet to make it a special event for me. They know my routine and they don't want to mess it up. Thanks little duckies. See you real soon!
After finding exotic creatures like turtles and pine cones this spring, my parents and I went back to the creek to see what other new discoveries we could find. We searched high and low. Nothing new was found, but I got to scare the guess into the water. That's always fun. They almost stand up on their hind feet and run into the water with their wings fully opened. They also make a silly sound as if they are squawking at me.

As mentioned lots of times before, I love comfort. Few things would ever take me away from my parent's bed at night. However, when Grandma and Grandpa are here, I am their dog. I stay by their side the entire time, even when they are sleeping. Best friends do everything together.
Happy Birthday Grandma Beef Jerky!
Here is Grandma Diana and I this past January. She had brought me lots of yummy treats that look like people food. She used me as a example to show Barclay what a good pup looks like. Sure I can sit, do I get a treat?
Last, but not least, here we are planting in the backyard last month. My grandma is a Master Gardener. All the photos you've seen lately have been things she created to make my backyard beautiful. Thanks Grandma.. Happy Birthday!!
the huge turtle. Yesterday's photos were great of me, but I don't think my loyal blog viewers had a chance to see what I saw when I was up close and personal with Ted the Turtle. What's interesting is that his large, hard shell is very shiny. However, his face, arms and
legs are pretty rough. I guess that's why it's a reptile. I wonder if I'm a reptile? Even though I have super soft fur like a Lamb's Ear plant in my backyard, my paws are rough and dry. Maybe, I'm related to the turtle. He could be my cousin. What do you think?
Not too long after we discovered the itsy bitsy turtle, we stumbled upon another turtle at the pond. This time it was a huge, gigantic, enormous turtle. I couldn't believe the sheer size of the turtle. He must have been living for a long time. I wonder what that turtle eats to get that big?

Every since I was a puppy, everyone has told me I was a big dog. Why is it that everyone tells children to "Slow Down. You're Growing Too Fast"? What I realized is that many things grow fast. For instance, here is a photo of the bushes my dad planted last summer. He added the limestone and bark this year. This first photo was taken at the beginning of spring.
Now look at the photo with me. This is the most recent photo of the bushes. Haven't they grown a lot? I'm sure glad they kept growing. I used to get in a lot of trouble with my parents when I would nibble off the leaves and branches. My parents thought they wouldn't grow well if I kept eating them. But the proof is in the photos!!
Last year, we had some plants in the corner of our patio so that I could see them from the inside of the house. So I helped my mom pick a few out. Some of the plants were beautiful all by themselves so there was no need to combine them like the pink Geraniums, purple Mexican Heather, and the greenish-white (oh so soft) Lambs Ear. The Lamb's Ear is so soft that my mom said it reminded her of my ears. But we all know that nothing can be that soft!
My mom liked the lamb's ear so much that we bought a little one for the mini pot between the patio chairs where she sits to take in some rays. I also added some of the celosias and festival dance coleus. Maybe those bright color plants will distract my mom from loving the lamb's ear so much. After all, few things in life should ever be more important than noticing and petting me!!! Don't you agree?
plant-ies -- whoa, it's storming.
You may remember that I had a brief absence at the end of April/beginning of May. I mentioned that the weather got cold one night and though the plants were covered, the wind gushed through our backyard. Thus causing some of my dear plants to widdle away.
Well almost. I am not that big of a rain fan. I don't like to get my paws wet when I got outside. However, I do like tp drink the water on the patio and listen to the creek when it's full.
Shortly after my Grandma Diana helped plant flowers, rain swept through our neighborhood. In fact, there was so much rain that the creek was extremely high. We're pretty lucky that our backyard slopes a bit. If it didn't the creek would have creeped up our backyard making my paws awfully wet. Take a look at all that water. Now that's a lot of rain!
Last year you may remember that my parents planted a Bradford Pear Tree in the backyard. It smelled so good that I couldn't help by take a bite of the bark. I would nibble a little here and a little there. My parents weren't too happy with me when they got home. They always get onto my about barking in the backyard. However, when they saw what I had done, they told me that "My bite was worse than you bark."
